Float Like a Butterfly

August 31, 2025 – Day 11

Rivers Crossing Campground, Savannah NY

Nice easy morning today after the busy last two days. After lunch we decided to visit the National Women’s Hall of Fame, the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, and the Elizabeth Cady Staton house. Well two of them were closed. Tomorrow we can get two of them. So alright Plan B it is! We’ll take the short drive to the Harriet Tubman National Park. It’s only open Friday & Saturday! Plan C was to visit the local Audubon facility and see what they had to offer. Can you guess what we found when we got there? Yup. Closed. (susan here: Google said it was open. Bad Google!)

When we arrived Paul noticed a ham radio operator in the parking lot. They chatted for about 10 minutes while Susan walked off looking for birds. About 10 minutes later she was stung by something with black & yellow stripes and full of hate with a slogan of “drill baby drill”. (susan here: there was something about whatever it was that I was wearing today that seemed to attract them. When I went back to where Paul was they started bothering me again. That’s when I said “nope.” and made, pardon the pun, a bee line for the Jeep.)

We went back to RV for some antihistamines, ice and some rest just in case it got inflamed. (susan here: many hours after the sting that felt like a hot poker getting jammed into my calf’s skin I can still feel it. 10/10 do not recommend.)

That’s it. BTW, 5 hours later she said it still hurts but we’re not looking for an urgent care facility so that’s good.
