It’s Only 78.7 Miles
April 22, 2025 — Day 17
Kiptopeke State Park, Cape Charles Virginia — Pokomoke River State Park: Shad Landing, Snow Hill, Maryland
Today is moving day, but moving only a little bit north which meant about 90 minutes of driving. We didn’t even bother hooking up the Jeep to Clifford since the bikes were on the back of Clifford. Also, one of us had to go back to the Eastern Shore Visitor Center to get stamps in our Passport book. We lazed about the morning, mostly because we couldn’t get to our destination early as check in was 3pm, so we were not hurrying until it was time to go (1PM).
No photos since we both were driving, sorry. We arrived within minutes of each other, well before checkin time, but they let us in anyway. They didn’t know if our site was vacant so we drove the Jeep over and found it empty so we could move in. But first lunch because we were both starving. Paul was really tempted to get a crab cake sandwich along the way. (susan here: he’d eat crab cakes three times a day he loves them so much!)
We were in site 187 this time. We picked it because we were right next door in one of our first trips ever with Stuart, the little trailer.

And here is that site with Clifford in the background!

Mind the gap!
This site is huge, Susan backed Clifford down it while Paul walked behind, spotting her on the radios. What you can’t see here is the “s” we had to do to start the back in and those trees felt a lot closer than they look. The one on the passenger side door is maybe 4 feet away. (susan here: it was one of the harder back ins we’ve done to date!)

It was only 2:30 but for some reason, we were beat. We didn’t bike, or kayak or even just walk around. Travel days, even short travel days, are just boring. Susan calls them “the lost days.”

We’re retracing out route, so it difficult to see what our direction is. I had ChatGPT modify the drawing program to draw the last leg in red. It did, but since we’re on top of ourselves it draws it is blue also, making it purple, and you still can’t tell if we’re going north or south. BTW, We’re going north.
