Turn Around — Trail Bridge Out Ahead

April 13, 2025 — Day 8 Lums Pond State Park, Bear DE It rained overnight so this morning we hung out waiting for the ground to dry out so we could go for a bike ride. But also waiting for Site 37 to clear out. Today is moving day, in the same park, see Thrash part 1 and 2. One of the camp hosts came by around 10:30 to put the new tenants’ hang tags up. Paul asked if site 37 was clear and it was. So we headed on over, a mere 3,000 feet or so. One of our shortest moves! We can move quickly so then we had…

    Entertaining Crackers

April 12, 2025 — Day 7 Lums Pond State Park, Bear DE Short blog today. We woke up when we wanted to. Ate when we wanted to. Was it lunch or breakfast? We honestly don’t know. It’s kind of a regular thing when we’re on the road. All we know is Paul had 2 of something. (Paul here. I loved both those meals) But first? We made the right decision to get out while we could! Here’s a photo from our friend Tundra, yes, that’s his name, he lives outside of Concord NH. This is what we didn’t have to drive through on Saturday morning to get to Fishkill NY.…

    The Unexpected Thrash Part II

April 11, 2025 — Day 6 Cracker Barrel East Greenbush, NY — Lums Pond State Park, Bear DE We were beat from the thrash that was yesterday and decided to sleep in. (susan here: no, really slept in, maybe 9:30 am, kind of sleeping in.) Paul hates driving in big cities so he programmed the Garmin to drive to the west around NYC, and dropped more shaping points into our Garmin to loop around Philadelphia. (susan here: which is always, “fun” except when it isn’t, which is pretty much always.) We also wanted to avoid the NJ Turnpike because crazy, crazy tolls last time we used it.) We had what…

The Unexpected Thrash – Part I

April 10, 2025 — Day 5 Spacious Skies French Pond Campground, Henniker, NH — Cracker Barrel East Greenbush, NY We couldn’t really sleep in late because the campground had an 11AM check out time. Usually you have until noon although 11AM isn’t that unusual. I think we had one campground where we had a 5pm check out time! After getting up, Susan looked at the weather and said, “Uh oh, snow coming, 2 days in a row.” It would be a night time snow but the roads would be nasty early. So we couldn’t even wait a day and make the long push to Bear, DE in one stretch on…

    34 Love Songs

April 9, 2025 — Day 4 Spacious Skies French Pond Campground, Henniker, NH We slept in, way in. We were tired after the concert last night, we usually don’t stay up very late but the bitter cold and 20-25mph winds just chilled us to the bone walking the 0.3 miles back to the car, and, well, that woke us up. We didn’t hit the bed until 1AM! We got up around 10AM, yes 10AM. Had an extremely slow morning. Paul had a late shower and then we hit the grocery store to get some things we were out of. Funny thing is, when we’re on the road we’re always finding…

    35 Love Songs

April 8, 2025 — Day 3 Northwoods Brewery, Northwood NH — Spacious Skies French Pond Campground, Henniker, NH We had a very slow morning, not because we slept in but because we only had a 45 minute drive to the next campground and we couldn’t check in until 2pm. Plus, it was snowing, not enough to cover the ground, but we didn’t know if they’d be salting the roads. And it was still snowing lightly when we left around quarter to 2. (susan here: The the cool thing about Harvest Hosts is that you roll in and you’ve got 24 hours to get gone. We got in at dinner time…

    Brrrr….

April 7, 2025 — Day 2 Redmond Fleet, Hudson, NH — Northwoods Brewery, Northwood NH We both woke up around 5AM, it was just too cold to sleep, worse it was too cold to get up. We ventured out of bed briefly to tend to nature’s call then dove back under the covers & stayed in bed until the last minute, somewhere around 7 am and turned ourselves into ice cubes. Susan got the Thermapen & it said it was 57 degrees in the coach. Brr! We drank coffee (susan) and tea (paul), and watched the falling snow waiting for Redmond Fleet to open up at 8AM. Easy key drop-off…

A Moose, a Beaver and Turkeys Walk Into a Bar

April 6, 2025 — Day 1 Keene, NH to Redmond Fleet Services, Hudson, NH We’re off on adventure again. This is just a short shakedown trip, we needed to get the annual service done on Clifford and that’s in Hudson NH on April 7th. And on the 8th and 9th we’re seeing one of our favorite bands play a 2 day concert in Concord, NH. (susan here: not 2 days straight, 2 evenings! They’d be hoarse and exhausted if it were 48 hours! But you, gentle readers, figured that out didn’t you. I didn’t have to insert my comments here. <g>) So why not have a shake down cruise before…
